BBD Volunteers With Ronald McDonald House Guest Chef Program
In continuation of BBD's cherished tradition of service and our summer 2018 service projects, firm members volunteered with the two Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses in July and August, preparing dinner for residents at each location.
The Ronald McDonald House, founded in 1974 in Philadelphia but now with locations across the nation, provides a low to no cost temporary residence to families of seriously ill children and creates a community of support and hope within these residences. Each Philadelphia house is conveniently located near different children's hospitals for easier access to care. In 2016, both Philadelphia Ronald McDonald Houses served a combined 1,427 families.
BBD volunteers participated in the Guest Chef Program in July and August, preparing a full three-course dinner at both Philadelphia locations. The Guest Chef Program is vital because families often don't have the extra time, resources or energy to prepare or purchase a meal after exhausting days spent in hospitals. BBD was overjoyed to contribute homemade meals to these families.
In July, at the Front & Erie Ronald McDonald House, firm members prepared dinner for more than 40 people as the house was at full capacity. In August, firm members again prepared dinner, this time at the Chestnut Street location for more than 70 people. BBD volunteers were also able to interact with families at each location.
Giving back is an important aspect of life at BBD, and firm members participate in a number of volunteer activities throughout the year. For more information about past and future service opportunities, visit our Community page and follow us on Instagram.
