BBD Gives Back: 2022 Year In Review
An important part of life at BBD is paying forward our own good fortune and acting on our responsibility to those with need in our communities. In the spirit of community, our firm sponsors hands-on service opportunities each month. Each project provides positive impact for those in need as well as an opportunity for collaboration and teambuilding. We truly value our opportunities to give back and support our communities in meaningful acts of service. We are thankful for the continuous opportunities to serve our communities. As we prepare for a new year, we are reflecting on another meaningful year of service.
We began our efforts in 2022 by donating dog toys to Glad Dogs Nation, an organization committed to bringing happiness to all pets. Their foundation provides food and medical care for animals in need. In February, we collaborated with a local organization, Hearts of Skylar, and donated warm winter clothes, water and coffee to Philadelphians in need on Super Bowl Sunday. In March, in response to the conflict in Ukraine, we raised money for World Central Kitchen, an organization providing fresh, hot meals and fresh produce throughout Ukraine.

In the second quarter, we were eager to get back to serving our community alongside our colleagues. In April, we volunteered at Philabundance's Hunger Relief Center. As volunteers, we helped pack and sort the donated food for distribution to Philadelphians in need. In May, we fundraised for Radnor Middle School's Mini-THON team benefitting Four Diamonds, an organization with a mission to conquer childhood cancer. In June, we got outside with Chester County Food Bank and volunteered at Springton Manor Farm. We harvested lettuce and carrots, planted leeks and prepped the soil for planting. All the food harvested is then distributed to neighbors across Chester County through Chester County Food Bank's food assistance programs.
Our third quarter efforts began with a focus on the needs of children. In July, BBD hosted a 5k through the quaint neighborhood of Chestnut Hill and fundraised for Jackson's Wish, a local charity committed to starting a conversation about the mental health of adolescents and teenagers. In August and September, firm members donated supplies to Cradles to Crayons for a "Back-to-School" drive. Thanks to our donations, many children received items needed for a successful school year.
We began our fourth quarter efforts in October by donating new and gently used shoes to Soles4Souls, an organization that turns unwanted shoes and clothing into an opportunity, preventing the shoes from going to waste and putting them to good use providing relief, creating jobs and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty. In November, Team BBD participated in the Run for the Stripes 5k at the Philadelphia Zoo. The goal of this race is to raise awareness and funds for research for neuroendocrine tumor (NET) cancer, a rare and hard to diagnose cancer. Proceeds from the race go to NET research to find better treatment options and hopefully a cure. In December, to lend a helping hand during the holidays, we teamed up again with local nonprofit Hearts of Skylar and participated in their Adopt-A-Family program. We gathered presents for three families based in the Camden area to help make their holidays a little brighter.
We are excited to continue our efforts in 2023!
