John is a partner with BBD’s Investment Management Group and has 13 years of accounting and auditing experience. His expertise with the complex accounting, audit, and tax issues related to investment companies includes:
- Fair valuation and pricing issues
- Fraud considerations
- Multi-class preferential treatment considerations
- Accounting for and implementation of Fulcrum Fee arrangements
- Transitioning of accounting and tax records relating to fund mergers
- Accounting and tax reporting of return of capital distributions
- Registered adviser custody rules
John also leads our firm’s internal control attest services. His extensive experience includes engagements performed in accordance with SSAE 16 and AT Section 101.
John currently directs the firm’s CPE initiative and is on the committee that oversees the firm’s auditing software implementation and maintenance. He has written for such publications as Pennsylvania CPA Journal and presents on GAAP, SEC regulations and GAAS to service providers, clients, and BBD personnel.
Prior to joining BBD, John served as a manager in the Forensic Litigation Consulting Group of a publicly owned, international professional services firm, where he provided consultation to Fortune 500 companies and national CPA firms on issues relating to GAAP, SEC Regulations and GAAS. Within this capacity, he provided interpretation and guidance on accounting, auditing and financial reporting issues. Additionally, John provided consultation and forensic accounting services related to internal investigations, internal control issues and accounting-based litigation.
