Joan is BBD’s Director of IMG Tax Services and has 20 years of comprehensive experience related to the taxation and distribution of registered investment companies.

She maintains expertise in the areas of:

• Income and excise tax distributions
• Tax requirements for registered investment company qualification
• Taxation of investments, including futures, options, straddles, swaps, credit default swaps, foreign currency transactions, passive foreign investment companies, REITs, and partnerships
• Tax controls
• Tax disclosures
• Fund reorganization
• Cost and risk control
• Distribution process management
• New product analysis

Prior to joining BBD, Joan served as Chief Tax Officer for Invesco AIM Advisors, Inc. In this role, Joan oversaw the tax and fund reporting functions for the AIM Funds, a Top 25 Fund complex with more than 100 Funds, and PowerShares Funds, a complex of more than 100 ETF Funds. She also provided oversight for the tax function of the AIM Companies.

Joan has been actively involved in the investment management industry throughout her career. She has presented at numerous conferences and seminars, including three Investment Company Institute Tax & Accounting conferences. Additionally, Joan has been a member of the Investment Company Institute Tax Committee since 1996.
