BBD Named A Philadelphia Business Journal 2017 Best Place To Work

BBD is thrilled to announce that the firm has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as one of the 2017 Best Places To Work.

BBDFirmMembersAccording to the Philadelphia Business Journal, a record number of companies across the area competed to be named a 2017 Best Place To Work. BBD was named among the medium-size companies, which includes companies with 50-99 employees.

“This award honors all of our great people here at BBD and the culture that we continue to create and develop together,” said Bridget Flanagan, BBD’s Director of Human Resources. “BBD is truly a special place to build a career in public accounting.”

To compete, BBD firm members completed an employee survey that was administered by Quantum in May of 2017. Each company awarded Best Place To Work status reached a statistical benchmark to win. Quantum describes their process in this way: “While many awards programs remain subjective, ours has been scientific since day one. In fact, we were the first to utilize a full-blown employee engagement survey as the sole scoring mechanism. This is still the case today. Our survey was developed by some of the most brilliant minds in survey research methodology and organizational psychology, and we update it regularly to make sure it stays relevant.”

BBD firm members commented on their BBD experience in the following survey comments:

“Having worked in other public accounting firms in Philly I recognize the difficulties that arise in finding work/life balance. BBD has done a very good job at helping me achieve that balance. I feel that my contribution to the firm is valued and recognized and that I am compensated well for that contribution. I also believe that we will be growing our presence in Philly and have great opportunities for those wishing to advance their careers.”

“BBD is absolutely a best place to work. I don’t think you will find the opportunities to work on challenging, unique, important work in a truly caring environment in other CPA firms.”

“[Leaders build trust] by being open and honest with the decisions being made at the organization and why they are being made. Including employees in thought process helps motivate us to care about the firm as much as the partners do.”

“Our leaders truly care about the people that work within the firm. They get to know our people personally, which builds a culture of trust. The majority of our leaders are very open and develop strong relationships across levels. These relationships help us to serve our clients better.”

“My manager encourages me to be a better employee and helps me develop skills to grow, not only as an employee but as a person as well.”

“I could never say enough about the quality of the people that we have, the quality of the work that we do—and the way that people care for one another at BBD. I’ve experienced this caring so many times and in so many ways during my years with the firm. We are a Best Place To Work for sure!”

“I truly enjoy working at BBD and working with the people here. BBD’s culture is one that creates a sense of family in all they do, especially the amount of community involvement, whether it is gifts at Christmas for kids in need, food drives, or firm team building events like annual meetings, holiday parties and golf outings. This really is one of the best places that I have worked!”
